job title: Web Developer
hometown: Minneapolis, MN
current location: South Bend, IN
what do you do? When your company requests a change made on their site, a picture replaced, a new email form created, another page added, a page deleted, some different text, an additional phone number, an option added to the admin site, you name it, I’ll make that change. On the developing end, I do some of the more basic programming: turning designs into live pages, writing simple code, adding pictures and text to new sites, and adding features to the admin site.
what’s the best part about your job?
I love the opportunities I have to continue to learn cutting-edge technologies and new web developing languages and techniques. one:ten fosters a spirit of learning and encourages exploration of the new technologies that are constantly growing and changing.
how did you get here?
I began working for one:ten in the summer of 2008 after learning some Matlab, a little Python, and some NQC at Notre Dame University and Saint Mary’s College, where I pursued a BS in Mathematics. At that time I was new to web development but under the tutelage of one:ten’s programmers I was soon making changes to our live sites and producing valuable work for the company. Upon completing my undergraduate studies in December 2011, I began to work full-time for one:ten. I have continued to pick things up and learn Linux, Python, Django, Javascript, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and more through tutorials, articles, and the ever-patient programmers who never tire of answering my questions.
